Singapore’s incoming Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced a minor cabinet reshuffle on Monday and will take up the top job later this week, with the biggest change being the promotion of the trade minister to deputy minister, according to local media reports.
According to media reports, 65-year-old Trade Minister Gan Kim Yong was awarded the additional title of deputy prime minister and succeeded Huang Zhifeng as governor of the central bank.
Mr Huang will take over as prime minister on Wednesday, succeeding 72-year-old Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Joshua Wong will become the fourth prime minister of the 59-year-old country, which has been governed by one party since 1959.
