LONDON – Nigel Farage, the British politician and media figure best known for leading the Brexit campaign, announced on Monday that he will run in next month’s British general election.
Farage has said he will not stand as the Reform Party’s congressional candidate in order to focus on supporting Donald Trump’s US presidential campaign.
Farage previously led the UK Independence Party, which rose to prominence in the 2010s on a platform of exiting the EU, reducing immigration and opposing multiculturalism.
However, the party only won one seat in the general election, and Farage, a long-time member of the European Parliament of the European Union, failed to become a member of the British Parliament despite running for office several times.
