shares Chewy The company emerged in premarket trading Monday after an SEC filing revealed that meme stock trader “Roaring Kitty” has a stake in the pet food e-commerce retailer.
Filing It shows Keith Gill purchased just over 9 million shares, equivalent to 6.6% of the company. That makes him Chewy’s third-largest shareholder, according to FactSet. The stake is worth more than $245 million, based on Friday’s closing price.
The stock rose more than 20% in pre-market trading.

The SEC filing also includes a section that reads: “Check the appropriate box to specify whether you are a cat.” The response has an “x” next to it that reads: “I am not a cat.”
Last week, Chewy’s stock price surged after Gill posted a photo of a cartoon dog on social media platform X. Shares rose 34% on Thursday but ended slightly lower.
CNBC emailed Chewy PR seeking comment on the new shareholder.
