voting system
Voters in nine regions around the world ranked their seven favorite hotels from the past two years in order of preference.
Emma Sleight, director of content at World’s 50 Best Hotels, told CNBC that members of the organization “do not vote and do not control the makeup of the list.” “It’s up to each voter to decide what makes any one hotel the ‘best’ experience for them.”
Any hotel can be nominated as long as the voter stays at the hotel for at least one night, but the rules state that voters cannot nominate more than three hotels within the same hotel group.
“Restaurants don’t have to stock a certain product, meet a certain price point, win any other accolades,” Slater said. “Hotels of any style are eligible – whether new or those that have been open for 100 years – as last year’s list demonstrated… Dubai’s Atlantis Royal Hotel and the Kraft Hotel, which has been open since the 1800s. Claridge’s was selected.
