Detroit- Ford Motor Company U.S. new car sales rose 15.2% in October, a report said on Monday, despite sluggish sales due to a union strike in October 2023.
The annual sales growth rate was mainly driven by a 29.2% increase in sales of Ford trucks, which were among the first vehicles to be affected by the United Auto Workers strike during contentious contract negotiations in 2023.

Ford said that as the adoption of electric vehicles has been slower than expected, Ford has been emphasizing hybrid vehicle sales, and hybrid vehicle sales in October increased by 38.5% compared with October 2023. Sales of electric vehicles fell 8.3%, while sales of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles increased 14.1%.
Compared with the same period in 2023, Ford’s electric vehicle sales for the full year through October still increased by 38.2%.
Electric vehicle sales fell in October just days after the company confirmed plans to halt production of the all-electric F-150 Lightning from Nov. 18 to Jan. 6, including a previously planned year-end holiday shutdown.
Ford’s U.S. sales grew 3.8% through October, with more than 1.7 million vehicles sold.
