Detroit – General Motors’ The new 2025 Cadillac Optiq entry-level electric vehicle will start at $54,000, the company said Wednesday.

The compact crossover will be Cadillac’s fourth electric vehicle when it goes on sale later this year. It follows the $59,000 Lyriq midsize crossover, the custom-made Celestiq sedan priced at more than $300,000 and the upcoming $130,000 Escalade IQ SUV. Pricing does not include EV incentives such as federal credits of up to $7,500.

“Cadillac has always defined American luxury, and the Optiq is an example of how our bold and innovative spirit is propelling us into an electric future,” John Roth, Cadillac vice president, said in a release.

The Optiq will be sold in 10 regions including North America, China and Europe and will debut on Wednesday at Cadillac’s new showroom in Paris.

Against this backdrop, automakers are trying to broaden the appeal of electric vehicles with cheaper models as sales of emerging vehicles are lower than expected.

The Optiq is also an opportunity for GM to re-enter the European market after selling its European operations in 2017.

The car’s design is similar to Cadillac’s current electric vehicles, including stylish vertical and horizontal lights and a black grille. It also has a large 33-inch diagonal LED in-cabin display and features GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance system.

Available in Luxury and Sport trims, the vehicle includes an 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system that delivers Cadillac-estimated 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.

The Optiq has an estimated range of 300 miles on a single charge. GM says the vehicle can add about 79 miles of range in about 10 minutes using a DC fast charger.

The car will be produced at GM’s Ramos Alispe plant in Mexico.
