Hunter Biden, the son of U.S. President Joe Biden, sued conservative news outlet Fox News on Monday, saying it published nude photos and videos of him in a fictional “Mock Trial” miniseries that focused on his foreign business dealings trade.
Hunter Biden has accused Fox of violating New York state’s so-called revenge porn law, which makes it illegal to publish intimate photos of others without their consent. He is also suing for unjust enrichment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Lawyers for Biden and representatives for Fox did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Fox aired “The Trial of Hunter Biden: A Mock Trial for the American People” on the Fox Nation streaming platform in October 2022, but later pulled it amid threats of lawsuits from Biden’s lawyers.
The show fictionalized Hunter Biden’s trial on illegal foreign lobbying and bribery charges, but he was never prosecuted for those crimes.
Biden was convicted in June on federal gun charges and faces trial in September on alleged tax crimes.
“While using certain truthful information, the show intentionally manipulated the facts, distorted facts, took what happened out of context, and invented dialogue designed to entertain,” Hunter Biden said in the lawsuit.
The series also includes photos and videos of Biden naked and performing sexual acts, the lawsuit said.
Biden claims Fox knew private photos and videos had been hacked or stolen but still released them for entertainment purposes, violating New York’s revenge porn laws.
Fox removed the miniseries in April but did not remove promos and clips, the lawsuit said, adding that the show remains available on third-party streaming platforms.
Biden said the miniseries caused irreparable damage to his reputation and caused him severe emotional distress, humiliation and mental anguish. He seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
Biden was convicted in June of lying about drug use to purchase a gun and illegally possessing a gun following a trial in Delaware. His lawyer said he would appeal.
He is also scheduled to stand trial in California on September 5 for allegedly failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019 while allegedly spending it on drugs, escorts, exotic cars and other big-ticket items. Millions of dollars.
Biden has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
